Brightleaf Massage Therapy

THE PRACTICE FRAMEWORK
What happens during a massage appointment?

All sessions begin with you! Your therapist will ask what goal you'd like addressed during the appointment. Following that, the therapist will take a brief history of the concern that brought you in and perform an assessment, asking you to demonstrate relevant ranges of motion to evaluate the challenged tissues.

Once the therapist has described what areas will be treated, how the draping will be arranged, and asked for your consent to treat, you'll have time alone to undress to your comfort level, and to get under the sheets on the massage table. Your therapist will knock before re-entering the room to make sure you're prepared.

During treatment you and your therapist will communicate about the level of pressure or discomfort you experience, helping to craft an experience that allows you to remain relaxed even if deep pressure is applied.

In the last few minutes of the treatment, your therapist will offer recommendations to help you extend the therapeutic value of the massage at home. Your journey towards your body's optimum capacity for movement is through your own attention to stretching and strengthening exercises, as well as the application of some degree of hot or cold hydrotherapy .
